HAMILTON

CHARTWELL
RENOVATION

Residential

Woven Architects was engaged to revitalise this mid-90s home in the Hamilton suburbs. The entire house was re-clad, including the exterior walls and roof, with exterior columns wrapped in a split-face stone veneer. Fenestration was upgraded, with some windows becoming glazed doors that greatly enhance the connection between interior and exterior. The outdoor living spaces have been reimagined; a large deck straddles the main living areas and master suite while hardwood steps lead to a sunken fire pit in the yard, designed for gatherings of family and friends. In addition to the renovation, the house has been extended to accommodate a new sleepout. With an ensuite and a store, the sleepout can be used as either a bedroom or office.
