RIVERVIEW ALTERATION

Residential

Woven Architects were engaged by the owners of this existing house to modernise its living spaces and connection through the house.  To achieve this, the wall between the existing Living Room and Bedroom was removed, forming a generous sized open plan living area with added Study.  Glazing to the gable end was increased and the ceiling over the existing bedroom raised, filling the larger living area with natural light.  Two large stacking sliding doors were added to this gable end to increase the connection to the well landscaped outdoor living space.

The other bold move in this alteration, was to remove all the walls/rooms blocking off the front door from the living spaces at the far end of the house.  By cleverly rearranging the internal layout, the backyard can now be seen after entering through the front door.  This feels both spacious and simplifies the flow through the house.  To the side of new central passageway, a simplified Bathroom has been formed with discrete Laundry hidden behind bi-folding doors.

The result of these alterations has been to create a house that feels spacious, light filled and well connected nature in the backyard.
